This morning I went to my weekly Weight Watchers meeting. Week 7 and down 5.6 pounds. I can finally do a little happy dance for the first 5 pounds. I was expecting that by the 2nd month of Weight Watchers, I would down at least ten pounds. Nope, not the case! Of course, looking back at the times I had Ben & Jerry’s because they had a new flavor like Peanut Butter Core and I just *had* to try it. Or it could have been the numerous times, I’ve craved something salty and just kept eating the Cheeze-It Snack Mix instead of putting it into a portion bag. Okay, let’s be really truthful… I have actually put it in the snack bag or bowl to portion it out but portioned it out for two servings and not one! Oh the guilt! Okay, I don’t really have the guilt but I don’t have the pounds lost to show for it either.
Last weekend was my birthday and those that know me on Facebook saw the picture of the two scrumptious looking Krispy Kreme donuts that I had for breakfast on my birthday; well because I could and I did! There is only one Krispy Kreme donut place in New England and it’s at Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut. Hubby and I went there Friday night and brought home breakfast! Oh it was so so so good! The best is to heat them up in the microwave for a few seconds so when you bite into it, the sugary sweetness just melts in your mouth and then wash it down for a cup of hot coffee.
And then that evening I had birthday cake. But I didn’t eat the frosting as it was too sweet for me (yes this from the woman who just talked about all the sweetness from a donut)! So, it was not a good weekend for someone on the Weight Watchers plan. And the prior week at Weight Watchers I had gained a half of pound. But I do believe that believing in yourself can help. I told myself “I can do this. I can get back on track and still have a good week.”
My strategies for this past week were to drink lots of water. I filled up and drank my 32 ounce water bottle three times a day – Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Weight-in is on Thursday mornings. I found bringing the water bottle into the car and sipping the straw while I waited in traffic had me going right through my water bottle. I also usually tell myself not to eat thinking this will help – it doesn’t! I drank Low-Sodium V-8 as it helps to fill me up. I tend to get the munchies before bed, so I would eat either a banana or a crunchy apple before bedtime.
Today, I was down 1.8 pounds. One of the highest amount of weight loss in a week since starting. This week, I will continue with the 32 ounces times 3 each day and also healthier type meals. If you are also trying to lose weight, I would love to hear what strategies are working (or not working) for you!
