Good things are coming soon! Have you ever heard of the April A to Z challenge? This is a blogging challenge where you post every day in the month of April except on Sundays. Bloggers pick a theme or topic of their choice and write a total of 26 posts going through the alphabet consecutively. April 1st being letter A, April 2nd being letter B and so on and on.
The Challenge of posting daily
Yes, It was definitely a challenge. I participated in this challenge back in 2016. As someone who doesn’t always focus on one task at a time, this challenge did get me in the habit of sitting down and writing every day. At the risk of sounding cliché, practice makes perfect.
Currently, I find myself writing often. Not everyday but often. The problem I am running into is that most of blog drafts…stay as blog drafts. I begin to craft them, and either get distracted or lose interest in the article and it doesn’t get finished.
The last time I participated, I wasn’t prepared. I would sit down after the kids went to bed and write-up a blog post. I was up many nights to the wee hours of the morning. I completed 22 blog posts out of the 26 I challenged myself to do. After the 22nd, I couldn’t do it anymore. I was burnt out! Too many late nights. Too much stress of having a deadline. I only had 4 posts left to do and I called it quits. I was disappointed in myself for giving up but sometimes we have to know when to call it quits. I have been wanting to try this again as there are so many benefits of the challenge.
Benefits of the Challenge
Habit – I was able to start a daily habit of writing at the same time every day.
Daily Focus – Knowing I have to write on one specific theme for the month and knowing that I had to post on a specific letter for the following day, kept me focused on the task at hand.
Connections – Being in the A to Z Blogchatter community not only boosted my blog traffic but we were also networking, commenting and socializing with other determined and amazing bloggers who were also participating in this challenge.
Sense of Accomplishment – Want to say you posted 26 blog posts one for each letter of the alphabet in the month of April? Yeah, me too!
The 22 blog posts I created two years ago are still some of my best content because it forced me to sit and focus on it. I have gone back since then and updated either the pictures or wording however, the main idea has stayed the same.
The challenge starts April 1st. But now is the time to sign up and start writing and planning out your posts for April.
I am taking the Challenge of April with Blogchatter, are you?
