Summer is right around the corner. And I don’t know about you but every spring, I feel like my clothes have gotten tighter over the winter.  As we start to trade in our sweaters and jeans for shorts and tanks, I know I have got to find a diet program that is going to help me lose weight, feel good and keep me going on it.

When I was offered the chance to check out a copy of “Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion... I said "Yes!" and did a happy dance because to be honest, I need the motivation.

I need a plan to follow that isn't going to be restrictive, give me ideas on foods to eat and get me feeling excited about being healthy. Over the next month, I am going to share with you my experience with this diet plan.

    My why

The main reason I want to lose weight is for myself. I just turned 50 and I always thought I would be the best me by 50. However, now with the stay at home orders the past couple of months, I have completely given in to junky food and bad habits. I had this amazing dream to hike Yosemite this week of this year, but like everyone else, our plans have changed.

And now the weather is warming up here in New England, I realized I've done myself a disservice and I need to take action. For me, for my husband and my kids. And my two dogs that love to take long walks.

    Eating at night

I got the book and dove right in! My first thought though was why Joel Marion named his book “Always Eater After 7 PM” when most of us have been told on diet plans to never eat 2 to 3 hours before bedtime. There have been so many nights while dieting, that I have gone to bed wishing I could raid the kitchen cabinets before bed, only to settle on a cup of green tea or a glass of water. Joel shares:

Always Eat After 7 pm is a three-phase program that teaches you how to lose big by strategically eating big when you are naturally hungriest—in the evening. This may sound too good to be true, but let me assure you it is no gimmick. It’s all about making strategic and smart food swaps, and you can still eat your favorite foods.

    The science behind the plan

One of the things I like about the book is that based on surprising science, Always Eat After 7 PM debunks popular diet myths and offers an easy-to-follow diet that accelerates fat-burning and allows you to indulge in your most intense food cravings: Eating the majority of your calories at night.

I am so ready! I can't wait to share with you next week how things have been going. In the meantime, check out this video Joe put together on the science behind the plan:
